BYU-Pathway ChatGPT Edu Account Information
The ChatGPT Edu account signup process for BYU-Pathways differs from other CES institutions. Follow the steps below to activate your Edu account.
If you are a BYU-Pathway employee, you can request a ChatGPT Edu license through our registration form.
Approvals depend on availability, and licenses are currently designated for full-time employees of BYU-Pathway. For questions regarding exceptions, users should contact BYU-Pathway's AI committee.
If you complete the registration form and are approved, you will receive an email invitation that appears as follows:
Once you click on the link, you will see this "Get Started" page with a green invitation pop-up.
You will have the option to "Log in" or "Sign up" with the email address listed in your ChatGPT Edu invitation email. Below are instructions for accessing your CES ChatGPT Edu account.
IMPORTANT! If you already have a ChatGPT account associated with the email address you used to register for an Edu account, navigate to the "Log in" instructions tab. If you do not already have a ChatGPT account with this email address, proceed with the "Sign up" instruction below.
To sign up for a ChatGPT Edu account, select the blue "Sign up" button on the right side of the screen as seen above. Next, you will be asked to provide an email address and password. Ensure the email address that you provide is the address that is displayed in your ChatGPT invitation email.
You may see this email verification screen. Copy and paste the code sent to your email inbox to verify your email with OpenAI.
Next, you will be required to fill out some basic information about yourself.
After creating your account, you will be logged in and shown this screen, which will explain the basics of ChatGPT Edu use.
To ensure that everything worked properly, confirm the presence of the CES logo in the top right corner of the screen.
You are now free to use this account in accordance with the standards you agreed to when requesting a license. We hope you can learn how to use this tool to further the missions of CES and increase productivity so you can spend more of your time providing value to our CES community and students.

The confirmation email mentioned above will take you to a ChatGPT screen with the following notice. Once on this screen, select "Log in" located on the right side of the page.
In the "Email address of phone number" input box, enter your email associated with the email invitation you received. You will then see a screen with the following options. DO NOT select the option that says either "CES" or "CES SSO". While this will work for other CES institutions, BYU-Pathway has a different authentication process. Continue by clicking "Continue with password."
Upon entering your login information, you will see this ChatGPT Edu introduction screen. Follow the pop-ups and prompts to get to know your new Edu account.
To ensure that you are officially in the correct account, look at the top right to find the CES logo. It will look like this:
Congratulations! You have now migrated over to your CES ChatGPT Edu account. You are free to use this account per the standards you agreed to when requesting a license.
